Prompts!

Prompts for writing, art, poetry, and more to help bring more inspiration for you! We update every first Friday of the month!

Writing Prompts:

- You awaken from a deep slumber, though you have no memory of who you are. Everyone else knows but refuses to tell you.

- At a yard sale, you find a box that has no visible way to open it. You shake it and there is something inside. What do you do? How do you get it open? What's in the mysterious box? Why is it so difficult to be opened in the first place?

- You wake up one day and are able to relive past memories for the day. What memories do you relive? Why did you choose to relive them? Be descriptive!

- You wake up to your doorbell ringing. You go and check, but there is no one. Instead, there is a package at your feet. Describe the package. You take it inside and open it. What is in the package? What happens when you open the package? This can be something realistic, or something completely out of the ordinary and magical.

- You are a kid again and school is canceled because it’s snowing. You go outside excited and full of joy to play in the snow. Describe everything, from how you feel, to the environment itself, how it differs now that it’s all covered in snow.

Art/Drawing Prompts:

- A dream pet that you’d like to have, and you’re not limited to any animal, creature, or thing.

- A view of a sunrise, or a sunset.

- Right now, randomly choose a room in your home. Go to that room and spin around randomly for 5 seconds (be careful) and open your eyes. The very first thing is what your piece will revolve around. You can draw a realistic drawing, add some sort of meaning to the drawing, draw the object with your own style, you name it!

- Research an endangered species and create your piece around that animal, simultaneously spreading awareness!

- An odd/disfigured/defies all basic laws of physics city. You decide if your piece will be more light-hearted and fun or creepy and somber.

Poetry Prompts:

- A green poem. Think of things that are green, and create a poem based on those colored objects or related feelings.

- Use spring as the main topic of the poem. It could be metamorphic or literal.

- Create a poem centered on a lighthearted, but an embarrassing moment in the past.

- Describe living the ugly truth, or the beautiful lie. Which world would you rather live in?

- You are taking a midnight walk to clear your head. How do you feel? What do you see or hear? Why are you taking the walk in the first place?

Opinion writing:

- What is one seemingly small event that forever changed your life?

- What would you rather cut out of your life: art or music? Explain why.

- Ideally, how would you like to spend every summer break?

- How do you imagine your dream home to be like? Be specific and detailed!

- Do you prefer cats or dogs? Feel free to write about any stories that lead your preference!
