Letter to The Sea - By Ahana Ghosh

You are my favourite piece of Earth

The sea of thoughts rounding my head

Hits the shore of emptiness hard.

To fill that shore, imaginations galore were made.

Glass hearts were broken; my lesson learned.

Reality hits like wild raindrops,

My thoughts grow colder with the wind’s touch.

Heavy expectations fall like boulders on sand;

Accepting you’re lost—something I just can’t.

The silent point where the sky and sea meet

Is where expectation and reality hit.

The moon still shines, my hopes still burn,

But the moon cannot make the waves turn.

Inside my heart, reality stays.

Dawn will come, and sunlight will break,

Yet it won’t warm me as it once did,

Not like it did when you first came.

In this endless night, I hold on to dreams,

To the last piece of you that darkness keeps.

I want the night not to fade, my thoughts of you to stay,

For it’s the only piece of you I have left.
